St. Joseph, Foster Father of Jesus

March 6, 2012 by Principal of HIS

St. Joseph, the patron of the spiritual life, is the foster father of Jesus. His feast day is March 19. Joseph was an just and upright man as scripture says. He protected Mary, the mother of Jesus, on the way to Bethlehem to be counted in the census. He struggled to find shelter for Mary when she was ready to give birth to Jesus. He cared for her and Jesus even to escaping the wrath of Herod, the king, and fled to Egypt. Although scripture does not mention St. Joseph as saying any words, Joseph in his silence says a lot. St. Joseph shows us how we can relate to God, the Father and Jesus, the Son of God. It is in silence that we can hear God speak to us. St. Joseph, pray for us!
